Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Rob is the Founder and CEO of Spruce Media, which he founded in 2009. After a decade of leading the charge in the performance marketing industry Rob saw the need to reshape Facebook marketing by integrating technology, analytics and social marketing best practices into a single social media buying platform. Rob is responsible for setting the overall direction and product strategy for the company. He leads the design of Spruce Media’s user interface and developed its core technology stack and infrastructure. Prior to Spruce Media Rob founded and sold Gratis Internet, which reached #18 on the Inc. 500 fastest growing companies. Rob is a respected pioneer in the performance marketing industry and is regularly invited to speak at industry conferences, roundtables and is a featured author in major publications such as Forbes and Media post.
Rob holds a B.A. in Business from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Chad oversees the architecture and development for Spruce Media’s platform. With over a decade of experience in enterprise level software design and web based systems, Chad brings a tremendous depth of technical knowledge to the Spruce Media team. Chad’s initial foray into the technology world began at ATX Forms. Chad has also spent time at The Motley Fool, American Red Cross and Microsoft.
Prior to Spruce Media Chad worked at Microsoft providing service and custom engineering to their biggest enterprise customers running the largest, most complex SQL Server installations and configurations in the world.
Chad holds an engineering degree from Thomas College.
VP of Engineering
Nathan oversees the development and operations of the Spruce Media platform, a global technology platform supported by multiple data centers and billions of transactions per month.
Prior to joining Spruce Media Nathan led development efforts at Vote for the Worst and was instrumental in developing a new website driving user adoption to 50 million per month and increasing monetization by 20 times. Nathan also spent 10 years at MetaSource as the Director of Software Development servicing some of the biggest names in the industry and developing a framework that consumed millions of records of data every month
Nathan started programming on his Apple IIe when he was six years old and created a business building computers at the age 14.
Nathan holds a BIT degree from American Intercontinental University.
As Controller, Brad manages Spruce Media’s financial operations as well as human resources. Brad establishes accounting and administrative best practices within the company and is focused on driving operational improvements. Prior to Spruce Media Brad oversaw finance and administration at Gratis Internet / Social Cash leading the company through successful implementation of operational infrastructure. Prior to Gratis Internet Brad spent time at PricewaterhouseCoopers, the largest public accounting firm in the world, where he honed his finance competencies and developed his passion for numbers with big name clients like ExxonMobil.
Brad holds a B.S. in Accounting and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, Accountancy from University of Illionois at Urbana – Champaign, and is a Registered Certified Public Accountant.
VP of Product
Andrew McDermott leads Spruce Media’s product strategy and software adoption. Responsible for managing the process and execution of our product development, Andrew works closely with our Advertising Technology Partners (Facebook and Twitter), our managed services clients and self-serve partners to ensure that Spruce remains a leader in providing Social Media Marketing solutions. Before leading our product efforts, Andrew was on the founding team at Spruce Media as the Vice President of Advertising Operations and Business Development, leading our Client Services and Operations teams.
Prior to joining the founding group at Spruce Media, Andrew was the General Manager at Gratis Internet, a performance-based advertising technology company covering Display, Social Media, e-Mail Marketing, Search, Virtual Currency and other digital channels. This team was responsible for building the largest incentivized traffic source for international, Mobile Content and Casino Advertisers and the largest Facebook In-Application Ad Network. Andrew previously held several other roles at Gratis Internet and Social Cash Inc. spanning Account Management, Operations and Ad Delivery.

VP of Media Strategy
Scott oversees campaign strategy, media buying, and partner execution at Spruce Media. Scott has over 7 years experience in social media buying and mobile advertising. Scott oversees Spruce Media’s strategic partner’s media buys; his team focuses on generating the highest possible return on investment for Spruce’s partners. Prior to joining Spruce Media Scott led mobile and social media at Neverblue, a leading performance based advertising company. Since 2007, Scott has helped countless companies engage and interact with their customers through social advertising channels.
Scott holds a B.C. in Commerce from the University of Victoria.
VP of Strategic Partnerships
Dan brings more than 15 years of experience in Business Development to Spruce Media. Prior to leading Spruce Media’s Strategic Partnerships efforts, Dan led adBrite’s business development team for nearly five years. During that time, he spearheaded the real-timing bidding (RTB) initiative and made adBrite the first RTB inventory source in the display advertising industry. Dan was also an early employee at PayPal from 2000 to 2007 where he held a variety of business development roles expanding contracts with key partners during a merger, an IPO, and an acquisition by eBay. Before coming to Northern California to work in the internet space, Dan spent a few years in marketing at Walt Disney’s Buena Vista Pictures Marketing and Distribution in Burbank.
Dan holds a B.A. in Marketing and International Business from Indiana University Bloomington.
